About the Malvern Area

Malvern is a brilliant setting for all, for peace and quiet if you would like to retreat, for romance, hiking, culture, photography, geology, mountain biking, freedom and creativity.

Malvern was originally a famous Spa and the hills are covered in Springs.

The water is still officially bottled, and you will find a bottle in the fridge, with other goodies to welcome you.

In May we have the famous and colourful Well Dressing, a fast growing tradition that has been beautifully revived here. Local people, and visitors queue at the main Springs, some regularly travelling miles to fill their boots with bottles of the famous waters.

Great Malvern has much to offer. Visit the excellent Malvern Theatre and Cinema and its lovely Winter Gardens with the Leisure Centre and swimming pool just over the moat bridge. There are many very good local eateries and interesting independent shops, and it is an easy two-mile drive, bus ride, taxi, or hike over the hill. We also have an excellent village shop and cafe that is very popular with visitors.

There is the huge Three Counties Show Ground, setting for the famous Spring and Autumn Shows, the Three Counties show in June, National Quilting Exhibitions, Antiques, Auto Jumbles and vast Flea Markets. Not forgetting the luxurious Malvern Spa in Malvern Link and a wealth of Fitness centres and gyms. There are also British Heritage and National Trust sites nearby.

The Amida Buddhist centre is two miles down the road in Malvern itself, if you are visiting with a Spiritual interest and our local church, St James, is a 4 minute walk from the house.

Every year the local West Malvern Community hosts the wonderfully diverse West Fest Music Festival

There is also the nearby Upton Jazz Festival in June, the Bromyard Folk Festival in September and the Hay Festival in May to name but a few.

If you are partial to pyrotechnics there is the fabulous Annual Fireworks Championship in September at Eastnor Castle, just down the road near Ledbury, one of the many surrounding Black and White market Towns.

Morgan Sports cars are uniquely made in Malvern and there are daily tours available, and special vouchers if you fancy a ride, solo, or chaperoned.

There are several local golf courses, including the Worcestershire Golf course on the other side of the hill, about 3 miles from Grosvenor House.

West Malvern itself seems to attract the creative and alternative, with many local artists and musicians.

We have a great pub, The Brewers Arms, just 3 minutes walk down the lane from us, which serves good food. If you are a Real Ale fan there is the Award Winning Nags Head in Malvern. (Taxis easily available)!

We are a great base for excursions further afield too and access to the M5, North and South is easy. Birmingham is about an hour North by car, Cheltenham about 40 minutes and the Cotswolds and Bristol just over an hour. Stratford upon Avon, home to the great bard himself, is 1hr away, so very doable with Malvern as a base.

From West Malvern there is a bus service to Malvern, Worcester and Ledbury.

We are also right on the border of Herefordshire with its wonderful rural heritage, The Three Choirs Festival and the famous Mappa Mundi.

We supply lots of local information and have an excellent Tourist Information Centre in Great Malvern.
